Bushfire NYE 2009 (A little too close to home!)
Hi guys!
I have finally uploaded two videos of the bushfire which was VERY close to my house on NYE 2009. The videos show the helitanks doing there bit to put out what ended up being a very long bushfire!
There was a total of 4 helitanks which were going back and forth trying to put this fire out. Considering the combined efforts of the air and ground fire crews, it took a very long time to extinguish.
This footage was all shot by me outside my house!

Yes they do a great job! Considering the large amount of bushland surrounding Perth, our volunteer's are always called on to help out. My Grandad is a life time member of the volunteer fire service, he used to run our local fire station before it became paid staff and my Grandma used to answer the phones! This is a metro area so you can imagine how many times they were called upon back in the day, as well as having their day jobs! Very committed people looked after the suburb I live in today.

We have relatives in Perth that were evacuated three times because of those fires - but their house was safe every time thanks to the work of Perth's volunteer fire fighters... :)
