Stephen juggles plumbing, friends, family, sport, music, volunteering for the Rural Fire Service and being an Extreme Weather Hero.
In between playing guitar, unblocking drainpipes and learning how to surf - Stephen is working his way up the ranks as an Incident Controller for the RFS.
As the summer season gets longer, hotter and dryer - Stephen is putting down his plumbing tools, throwing on his cape and getting his mates together to learn something new every day...

Thoughts on climate change and extreme weather
From what I have heard, the climate is changing for the worst. From my experiences it is making our fire seasons longer, hotter and dryer, which has a substantial affect on the Rural Fire Serice and it’s volunteers.
Likes
Friends, family, sport, music and my role within the Queensland Rural Fire Service.
Dislikes
Working all the time. Pumpkin. Blocked drainpipes. People who pick their noses at traffic lights and think no one is watching.
Aspirations
To continue being a Plumber and volunteering, with the hope of joining the Queensland Urban Fire Brigade in the near future.
Proudest moment
By helping my friend, the 1st Officer of my Brigade, when he suffered a suspected heart attack on the fire ground.
Biggest learning experience
When I was appointed the Incident Controller of a major fire. Also my role within the Queensland Rural Fire Service where I am constantly learning new things.
