Maribyrnong City Council - YOU ROCK!!!

Wednesday 8th July 2009

Maribyrnong in Focus: Climate Change

- Maribyrnong City Council has made a commitment to become carbon neutral as an organisation by 2015.

- Australians are amoung the worst polluters on the planet- the third highest energy users per capita in the western world. With only 0.32% of the world population, Australia contributes 2.3% of the world's carbon emissions from fossil fuels (Human Development Report 2007/2008).

This is just one of the things the Maribyrnong City Council is doing to become a Carbon Neutral Organisation. I received this flyer in the mail and was very proud to be living in a municipality that is proactive and jumping on the Climate Change new world!

The Maribyrnong City Council is pleased to launch Maribyrnong in Focus - designed to keep you up to date about important topics and issues relevant to the whole community. Our first edition focuses on Climate Change. It's a term we hear often, but in this publication we will look at what it actually means, how it impacts out lives and what we can do about it.

Visit www.maribyrnong.vic.gov.au and check out the Climate Change flyer in Maribyrnong in Focus. You can even subscribe to the e-newsletter. Stay up to date with environmental news, tips and activities by subscribing to Council's FREE environmental e-newsletter Greening Maribyrnong.
