You are lucky not to be living in VIC at the moment. The HOTTEST 3 days so far since I have been ALIVE!
If that doesn't convince you that extreme weather events are linked to climate change then I don’t know what will.
So the weeks events. CONGRATS to the VICSES- Footscray Unit who the Community Services Group award for the Maribyrnong City Council Australia Day Awards (26/01/09).
It was definitely fun in the sun, lucky the council was there to provide free sunscreen, or there would have been a very red Ruby in a blue uniform.
Media release developed by the council had this to say:
Community Services Group Award: State Emergency Services Footscray – for more than 45 years, the SES has delivered professional and highly skilled rescue services to Maribyrnong residents and businesses. Also providing support at local events, the SES delivers intensive training and ongoing skills program to its members.

Interesting enough I happen to meet a young girl (16) who won the Young Citizen of the Year award. When I heard her nomination being read out I was ASTOUNDED that she was spreading the message of climate change and trying to close the gap between action and inaction! FANTASTIC and serves as a great role model for all young people. I had a chance to meet and greet her and hopefully provide you all with a brief interview in the next couple of weeks.
Here is a brief blurb about her award: For her dedication to youth affairs through the Victorian Student Representative Council. She has been involved in a number of major events, leading environmental forums and decision making in youth affairs, demonstrating the opportunities for young people in the community. Congrats to Linh Do.
My next posting will be the celebration at the Quang Ming Temple for the Luna festival....year of the Ox. Even though it was a day before the Luna New Year I feel I need to spend some time as I have some great fireworks clips to upload.
Au revoir!!!
