Damaging winds have hit, now waiting for cousin HAILSTORM!!!

BOM issued the following weather warning at 12:18 pm Thursday, 22 January 2009....

 

 

Hot off the PRESS!!! VICSES is getting hit pretty hard with 123 requests for assistance from midnight last night until 1324hrs today, with 89 of those requests for Central region. There are still 62 requests for assistance outstanding for the STATE. 

 

Look how windy it is in Footscray!!!

 

 

 

Footscray Unit has just received another job, thats 2 jobs BUT expecting alot more as the day progresses. Jump outside and take some images and video clips of the wind & post them NOW!!! A branch just fell on my car!!!!  

 

Yes, for those that are not sure here are some tips:

 

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* secure any loose objects in the vicinity of your home.
* stay indoors if possible.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* if you are outside, avoid sheltering under trees
* listen to the radio for storm updates
* switch off your computer and electrical appliances

 

Another extreme weather event (which are happening more frequently every year!).
