Thursday: Find out about Green Cross Australia and get asked to be an Extreme Weather Hero.
Friday: Work in ACT as a carpenter. Get flights book for Gold Coast, QLD.
Saturday: Arrive at the Gold Coast for Extreme Weather Heroes Briefing Weekend! Meet awesome people. Bombarded by the science of climate change. Beer and great food on the deck! SLEEP!
Sunday: Online social networking training. Al Gore presentation. Discussion of the roles and responsibilties of an Extreme Weather Hero. Flight home. SLEEP!
Today: Am now in the depths of burning Canberra bushfires - and while I have wanted to be a firefighter since I was four - and have been volunteering since I was 16, I still get that adrenalin rush!
Because bushfire season is getting longer and longer every year, I am dedicated to getting young people involved in the Rural Bush Fire Brigades so that they have the skills and awareness to handle the extremes.
Will report back soon about the bush fire and my awesome team - who are all Extreme Weather Heroes in my eyes.
