Australian Open 2010

Well what a year 2010 has started out to be... Although I was sick for the first two weeks we've managed to organise all our final plans for the 2010 Australian Open.

St John Ambulance provides First Aid support to the public who attend the Open at Melbourne Park with over 30 Volunteers on duty during the day and over 15 every night.

Lots of our members are school students or uni students who are on holidays now and choose to volunteer their time with us.

We staff four First Aid posts across the venue with two being Heat Stress Areas for any patrons who are effected by the heat during the days.  These rooms have around 8 air conditioners and keep the room at about 20C which is lovely on a warm Melbourne day!!

Looking at the Weather Forecasts were going to be getting some typical random Melbourne weather with possible showers and low to mid twenties through to sunny with tops of 35C other days in the first week.

Have a think about joining St John Ambulance in your State and volunteering at some of Australia's greatest sporting events!!  Check us out at www.stjohn.org.au.

Look forward to keeping you updated during the Tennis!!
