
At 16, Dean joined St John Ambulance Victoria as a Cadet in 2004. Dean graduated and became an Adult member at 18 becoming a First Aid Volunteer which enabled him to attend an array of local and state events across Victoria.
Dean has just finished his degree to be a Paramedic and believes he can utilise the skills and training learnt at St John to further his career in his chosen profession.

Motivation for joining
I’ve always wanted to have a career where I’m able to help people. St John gives me the opportunity to do that whilst also offering me some great experiences!

Thoughts on climate change and extreme weather
We are noticing extreme weather and climate change more and more these days and it’s time we start paying attention and doing something about it... Apart from eating Icy-Poles and keeping cool!!
Likes
Going out with friends, listening to music, taking holidays and of course volunteering with St John Ambulance!
Dislikes
I dislike rude and ungrateful people.
Aspirations
Continue volunteering with St John Ambulance and becoming a Paramedic within an Australian Ambulance Service.
Proudest moment
Knowing I live my life to the fullest and without regrets.
Biggest learning experience
Working with highly experienced professionals including the St John Volunteer Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics at major events and incidents, and learning how to manage and respond to the casualties we attend.
